The Hungarian Game Developer Association was established with the goal of supporting and promoting the development of the Hungarian game industry, while also providing a unified banner for everyone who wishes to contribute to the growth of the local professional community. Our association creates a platform for all interested individuals and professionals to come together as a community and support each other.
Our association operates on a non-profit basis. Our members and board work voluntarily, dedicating their free time to pursue our shared goals.
The founding members of the association have individually been organizing various events for many years. One of our aims in creating the association was to make these efforts more sustainable and to open up new perspectives by seeking out synergies.
Currently, we organize two regular monthly meetups (the Budapest Game Dev Meetup and the Unreal Meetup). We are also launching a new event series called Indie Level Up, which will take place quarterly and offer a larger-scale experience than our usual meetups, featuring talks and other exciting elements.
Every year, we organize HunJam, the country’s largest offline game jam event, where around 100 participants, grouped into small teams, create their own game projects within 48 hours.
We also organize Game Dev Day, the largest game development conference in Hungary, each year.
With the launch of hgda.hu, our goal is to provide a central platform for those interested in game development and for active members of the industry, where all relevant information is available in one place and in an up-to-date format.
