👥 This year’s Game Dev Day was bigger than ever: more than 350 participants came together to celebrate the growth of both the Hungarian and international game industry. We also broke records with the number of sessions, and introduced new elements that brought us a step closer to the quality of major international conferences.

🏆 A true highlight was the pitch competition—the first of its kind ever held in Hungary. Teams not only showcased their games to a local audience but also to international publishers, who provided instant, valuable feedback. We were genuinely surprised by the exceptionally high quality of the projects—every single team deserves a round of applause! 👏

⚙️ Organizing the event came with extra challenges this year: attendance doubled, the number of talks increased by 50%, and we added brand-new elements such as the business meetup, team-finder, and the pitch competition. These were all first attempts, and while we learned a lot along the way, they give us a solid foundation to make next year’s event run even smoother.

🤝 One of Game Dev Day’s most important goals is community building. While Hungary’s game industry still lags behind some of our neighboring countries, the event created a fantastic opportunity for developers to meet, exchange ideas, and inspire each other. Many participants told us how motivating it was to see that even small teams can achieve big results. For us, this is also a huge source of motivation—we’re on the right track!

🚀 Looking ahead, our key challenge will be making the association’s work sustainable. For the past year and a half, everything has been organized on a volunteer basis, but this scale of work can only continue long term with a solid support system in place. Many of you asked when the session recordings will be available—since we’d like to include them in this new framework, we kindly ask for your patience while we figure it out.
